It's been over a year and a half, so it probably would be a good thing to update this section.

I started this journal back on December 31, 2003 - my partner and I were celebrating the New Year at the base of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. As I looked up at the landmark glittering with all the lights at midnight, it sank in that 2004 would be the year leading up to my 40th birthday (in December.) I have never been one to do lots of hand-written logs, journals, etc. and somehow Live Journal came into my life. I knew it was a perfect opportunity for me.

Another wierd part of me was my love of the TV show Doogie Howser, MD. Of course I get lots of crap about oogling over Neil Patrick Harris, but in reality it was the very end of the program when he would write out his daily journal on the computer - one of those old IBMs with the blue screen and white letters. I would always set my word processing screen to look the same way. (I know - Dork with a capital D!) I've always considered myself an excellent writer and loved how Doogie would sum up the day in a witty one-paragraph entry. In many ways, this is what I've been trying to do, but it doesn't always end up that way.

Live Journal has also opened up an exciting world for me. I have met on line and in person some of the most incredible people through LJ - from right here in my own home city to those thousands of miles away. I honestly cherish everyone I've met here and get excited each day when someone new enters my life. Living authentically is a beautiful thing and my world here in LJ seems to make it even better.

So, a little about me:

A Denver native through-and-through. I love my city. I was born and raised on the eastern side (even though we never say that around ~~here~~ there.) I attended Catholic schools all through high school and then went to the University of Northern Colorado. I met the woman who would be my wife of 16-months there, but unfortunatly I wasn't honest with myself and others during that time because I am a gay man who never realized it until after I was married and about 23-years-old.

I've had a few significant others in my life, but it was back in January of 1996 that my soulmate re-entered my life. I say re-entered, because we both realize that in other lives, we have been together, but it's never seemed to work out. This time it's the real-deal. We met over AOL (in one of those old chatrooms) and in a three-hour chat, I finally got up the nerve to ask to meet him so he could read my tarot cards. A few days later, I would look into his deep, beautiful blue eyes - see a reflection of my soul and I knew it was good. We've been together ever since. ~~We share a beautiful 105-year-old Victorian home in Northwest Denver near the football stadium with our two German Shepherd dogs (Athena & Cian) and our two cats (Cecilia & Little Boy.)~~

EDIT: We're now in Toronto and loving every minute of it. I will update my profile soon, but right now we're here and proud, new Canadian immigrants.

Our lives are going to change very dramatically here in the year ahead as we have begun the process of immigrating to Canada - specifically Toronto, Ontario. It's time for change - it's time to live in a country that respects us and treats us equally - it's time to explore a beautiful, vibrant, exciting, scary, enriching, confusing world out there without the borders of a city and state that have been comfortably holding me in its arms since birth.

Professionally, I ~~work~~ worked for a major telecommunications company specializing in cable television, video-on-demand, Internet service and content, telephone over the Internet and entertainment and sports programming and properties (any guesses?) I love my job as the Director of Marketing for the advertising sales division - I meet and work with wonderful people I consider close friends and collegues. While I have been living life as the Cable Guy for the past six years, for 17 years previously I was the Radio Guy - working at a news reporter, helicopter traffic reporter, editor, writer, manager, farm guy, investigator and who knows what else. I've seen gang shootings, major airline crashes, interviewed Presidents and crack whores and sometimes wondered if they were the same. </strike>

I've experienced an incredible life and I'm only 43 and there is still a long way to go!
